Bitter Tea

A small poem about taste, change, and keeping still.

Today I had a cup of tea
I drank it down with so much glee
Would have spit it out once before
No sugar for me, no, nevermore

That bitter drink I had today
Conjures within so much to say
Once who I was, now who I am
Comes rushing at me like a ram

Be still my dear, and do not shout
It’s unseemly to show but a pout
What once was can never be
For all we have is eternity
